What We Know About Couples Work

We know from experience that working with couples is challenging. Being a successful couples therapist takes a willingness to challenge yourself to move out of your comfort zone, learn new skills and dare to use them. If you would like improve your outcomes in the work you do with couples and challenge yourself in ways that can bring about significant change both professionally and personally, then our next course is for you.

This Course

This Course will help you show couples how to be with one another in a way that is satisfying and fulfilling. You will learn theory and skills to help teach your couples to manage the distress of their differences while honoring both their relationship and their individuality so that they experience arriving at decisions in a whole new way.
****We teach this course using theory lectures, demonstrations and real time practice so that you can immediately integrate these powerful skills into your work with couples.
****Models we integrate into this course include Imago Relationship Therapy, Encounter-center Couples Therapy, and the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy.

Why we do this Training

Upon the request of Amy's colleagues, we developed this six-week training course based on an integration of the models that help her successfully work with couples who are at various stages of disconnection and despair. More than a few of the couples she has worked with over the years were referred to Amy by those same colleagues. After experiencing first hand the effectiveness of the work Amy is doing with their clients, it made sense her colleagues would want more information and training on the successful methods she was using. The course was born.
What we experienced throughout that first 6 week course was the elation of being on the wonderful adventure of helping other clinicians grow their confidence and competence in couples work.

I specialize in couples therapy. My training includes Encounter-centered Couples Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy and The Gottman Method. My work with couples often integrates these approaches because there is no single approach that works for every couple. I am a certified Imago Couples Workshop Presenter and Intensive Couples Facilitator. My past academic teaching experience includes adjunct in women's studies at Oakland University and LGBT studies at Wayne State University School of Social Work in Metro Detroit. I am an Imago Educator, Couples Coach, Spiritual Director, Assistant Imago Getting the Love You Want Workshop Presenter and Ordained Minister. Iam currently in the 3 year training program for Encounter-centered Couples Therapy. I studied both Eastern and Western spiritual practices during my formal education and continue as a life long learner in spiritual direction and theory of relationships. My most recent (past 10 years) teaching experience is with assisting Amy in the clinical training program, C0-faciliating the Getting the Love You Want Workshop and my involvement in developing spiritual teaching.
